Cellulase

  • Culture Enzymes Minerals & Vitamins

Cellulase is an enzyme that breaks down cellulose, a complex carbohydrate found in plant cell walls. While it is commonly used in animal feed production, its use as a dietary supplement for humans is limited. The health effects of cellulase supplementation in humans are not well-studied, and scientific research on the topic is lacking.

However, cellulase supplementation may hold potential benefits for individuals with certain digestive disorders, such as IBS or IBD, where the digestion of plant fiber can be challenging. Preliminary studies suggest that cellulase supplementation might improve the breakdown and utilization of dietary fiber, potentially reducing symptoms like bloating, gas, and diarrhea.
